"Fill In the Gaps"

Focused, goal-oriented fundraising keeps us efficient and helps our families and community see what exactly they are supporting when they choose to donate time or money to the Mill Pond Booster Club. In the past two years, we completed large goals of buying playground equipment and musical instruments for general music instruction. This year, we've identified multiple smaller needs within our school; so our goal for this year is to "Fill in the Gaps." Just a couple of things on that list are an ice machine, balls for recess, additional scooters for PE, and curriculum enrichment activities. After surveying teachers and staff, we will have a more complete list of items identified at which time we will give our goals a monetary value.

As always, we strive to make sure our students have the best facilities and programs available to enhance the learning environment. If you have any suggestions for a "gap" that needs to be filled, please contact a board member or come to a meeting to let us know. We'd love more input!

Year Two and Getting Stronger

It's not quite a smooth running maching yet, but for just two years of operation, Mill Pond Elementary and our young Mill Pond Booster Club are getting the kinks worked out. Through the tremendous work of our volunteers, we finished our calendar with a bang with our end of the year carnival. (Mr. Batstone got off easy since the District banned the use of Dunk Tanks, hmmm did you have something to do with that?) Thank you Brad and Susie Carlsen for all of your hard work, and for a great job organizing the many volunteers who came forward to help.

The Booster Club needs the help of volunteers willing to step up and take on a challenge! If you've been to an event and thought, "It sure would have been fun if they'd done this ..." then WE NEED YOU! We are looking for event coordinators for next year. Your ideas and energy may be just what the Booster Club needs.

It's amazingly easy to see that as the number of people involved in an event goes up, the quality of the ideas and the ingenuity in getting them accomplished increases dramatically. Thank you for your support this past year, and please join us for an even better 2008-2009.

Making Music at Mill Pond

Fifteen guitars have been purchased and delivered to Mill Pond. Thank you to the Yelm Midday and Evening Lions for sponsoring guitars and also to the the Neel Family for sponsoring two guitars! Thank you to all the families that participated in the "Can You Spare a Dollar" campaign. All those funds help us toward our goal.

We are still working toward our goal of 15 African Drums. If you'd like to sponsor a drum as a business or a family, please contact a board member.
